zenith combo is here!

well i got the beast home today.heavy and so low to the ground you cant get a hook on it.wrestled it on the truck and drove carefully home.unloaded it by myself and put it in the garage.radio is loud and clear.this unit has the allegro sound system.turntable is belt driven and works as it should.tv is the space command system 3 remote with zoom.hooked up to converter box and voila!dragnet in color!picture was bright, sharp and clear.25v inline gun that looks as good as it did when new.unit was built in 1979 and the receipt show sold in 6/1980.all paperwork included and this is a almost pristine.couldnt find a blemish anywhere.this was heavy as any magnavox combo and i was lucky to get it in and out without any damage.combo owners rule the earth,so kneel for i am the combo king!

Has this one got the chip outputs for the stereo??

Could have gotten one like that in 2003 or 4, but was not interested.

The one from 1974 with the flat chassis tv , and the big, seperate stereo amp with the big TO-3 outs is MUCH "sexier" to me!!

Nice catch. The only way this could be better is if the 8-track had a recording function (maybe it does?) and if the TV were equipped with Space Phone. That, to me, would be the ultimate combo.

here are a couple more pics.adam12.dragnet,bonanza,gunsmoke never looked as good on my flatscreen as it does on this set.i pulled back off today and set g2 for minimum brightness.almost perfect convergence save for a small bit of impurtiy at bottom right corner.about the size of a needle head.very tiny and not noticable from 3-4 feet away.not a delta gun,but i love this piece.no handtruck, helpers, etc.i got this myself.technicolor is the crown prince but i am the combo king.long live the king!

As far as I can tell from the photo, the 8-track does record. Hopefully the head isn't held in place by a piece of plastic with a set screw in the top, I have seen those fatigue-crack too often. I certainly can't argue with the royal ranks as stated by Ron, that is one heck of a combo.

Boy.. that is a NICE combo!
Surprisingly I never saw a System 3 Combo, and that was the era I worked at the store.
My Uncle tended to talk people out of combo units tho, and I only recall seeing 1 new one, and that was special order CC2.
I bet that one was EXPENSIVE new.

Wow, very nice combo! I agree with jstout66, I worked in a TV Sales / Service shop at the beginning of the SYSTEM 3's, and until 1981, we were Factory Authorized Zenith, RCA, and Sony Sales and Service. I helped deliver, set-up, and of course repair many new Zenith's (and RCA's), we never had a combo set on the sales floor, we could have ordered one special for a customer, but no one ever bought one while I worked there! Now, looking at that beauty makes my knees, and lower back ache! Really nice for the price, and I really like that the 8-Track still works, I've kept my machine going since I bought it new in 1977! Enjoyed the pictures of your fine Zenith Combo!

I second that obs. Only sold 1 or 2 combos a year by special order.
Last one was probably G or H line. Combo sales all but dead when I
started in '70. Never was big...... Its a very nice catch & rare.
The pix also looks like new.

BTW What is the model ## ? is it a K line ?

The last Zenith color combo, I worked on, had a 12B14C52 chassis, one of my favorites. Of course, it had a solid state stereo.
I mentioned to the owner that, I don't see many Zenith color combos.
The owner said that it was a special order.
BTW, anyone see the entry at Audiokarma, in the vacuum tube audio threads, regarding the B/W Zenith combo.
TV, with Space Command, stereo amp with PP 6V6's each channel, tube radio tuner. Very pricy unit, when new. Very high tube count!
