Zenith Chairside found, need info on lid
I ran across a forlorn Zenith 6S-147 chairside in an antique mall in Springfield MO yesterday. Here's what it's supposed to look like (courtesy Radio Attic):
Apparently it belonged to the booth's owner's mom. It's already had two knobs pilfered and the top that goes over the control panel - which I assume is glass, can anyone confirm that? The chassis and speaker are all there, and the cabinet is sound although in need of a complete strip and refinish. Always wanted a chairside, it's a fixer-upper but definitely doable.

I have one. What Year was this one built ?
Mine is a different cabinet built in 1942. I think all have bad tops on the cabinets because the heat would go to the top & was slow to get out with small vent holes. I don't have model number now. My control area looks like the regular Zenith console radios with glass over the dial .

Nostalgia Air says 'pre-Oct. 1936', probably based on which Riders volume it was in. I'm surprised it's that early, I thought these were more like '38.
The dial is cracked on mine, appears to be thin plastic and probably couldn't take the heat.
