Few new sets and a question

Picked up a few new sets in the last few days. Kamakiri (Tim) is picking them up today and I will grab them in a few weeks from him.

1951 Admiral Tele-Bar complete with original glassware. The cabinet has already been refinished (photos before refinishing).

1947 DuMont 103 Doghouse. Need to track down knobs. Let me know if you have spares that you would part with.

Now for the question. The Admiral Tele-Bar chassis (21L1) seems to be missing a round metal plug on the back of it. See attached pictures from my other Admiral console (21K1) chassis. What is this part? Can find no part number or references to it in the literature anywhere. From being under my 21K1 chassis, it appears to be a fuse of some type. My guess is set will not even power up without this part. Any idea how I can get one?

Thx.

The socket is for a color wheel attachment. There's sometimes a shorting plug to allow the set to operate without the wheel attached. I say "sometimes" because if there's no plug, that most likely means there's nothing connected to the socket at all. A lot of chassis went out that way after CBS suspended (read: abandoned) its color broadcasts.

Oh wow! Had no idea. My 21K1 chassis has the shorting plug. So i guess that set is wired for the optional color wheel. But this 21L1 chassis Tele-bar does not have the shorting plug.

So sounds like this set will operate just fine without the shorting plug? Guess that socket may not be hooked up to anything at all then.

David,

You are 100% correct. The 21L1 Tele-bar chassis I jut got has NO wires attached to this socket under the chassis. So no need for the shorting plug. That's a relief! Thanks for your input.
