TV Set with a Problem!!

Does anyone know why if I set my TV Set on Channel 3 along with the converter box on Channel 3 that the Horizontal White Lettering with a black or dark background on a commercial wants to shake and wiggle? It doesn't do this if you change the TV channel to 4 and the box to 4. It also acts up in the above manner when you watch Jeopardy and they show the white clue in the blue box. The only converter box that I have tried and it doesn't do this on Channel number 3 is the Lasonic Converter Box but that is the one with the mentioned interference.

Perhaps I am missing something, but it seems that different DTV boxes produce poor results when using channel 3 but not channel 4. Perhaps there is some local interference in your area on channel 3 or the tuner in your set does not fine tune properly on channel 3... so why not just use channel 4 if it works better?

Maybe a difference with the fine tuning between Ch 3 and 4 on your TV. Do you have manual fine tuning? Does the set have an AFT (Auto Fine Tuning) switch?

No, AFT switch on this particular set. I used to have one that did.

No AFT? Then fine tuning. Surely there's a way to do that.

It could have to do with how the converter box is achieving the channels frequencies, and separation in the sound and video carriers for each of those channels.....

Try a different converter....

If the set is a digital/keyboard-tuning type, try switching away from channel 3 and then back, after the box is set to channel 3. Most sets self-fine-tune themselves to the received signal, but only when first changed to a particular channel. If tuned to a channel with no signal already there, they stay on the "correct" frequency for that channel (61.25 MHz video for channel 3) and do not re-tune when a signal does appear.

Also if digital tuning there are often switches one
for AFC norm-spcl, & bands TV-CATV- IRC- HRC.
AFC sw determines pull in range & search time.
TV-CATV selects bands & carrier freqs.
Other than that ???
