Sencore cr70 Issue help
Hello everyone!
I recently picked up a sencore cr70 off ebay for $80 with all the adapters included, but I sense a problem with some of the functions. First off the emissions never exceed over more than a quarter on the bad side of the dial (I have tried using multiple tubes but I always get the same results) Manual restore and auto restore have no effect although I have checked the voltages from the functions with a voltmeter and the voltage is correct. Cutoff is bad too on all tubes I've checked. The remove G1 shorts is probably the only working function. The fil set works fine, I have checked my pin locations with the ua and all are correct, I do get filament glow, and I got ok hk and g1 shorts readings. I have done a visual inspection and I cant see any visually bad caps. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

Can you test a CRT in a working set that appears to work well? The results of that test should tell you a lot about it's accuracy.

If you are using the UA....I MAY have a clue for you. It happened to ME--actually it happened on a COUPLE of sockets besides the UA. It happene don the roundie socket a couple of times--making me mistakenly think one gun was VERY weak--wne in fact it was FINE. (do NOT remember which gun--I do NOT think it was red).
One pin on the plug of the UA (or any other socket too), I think it is on the right side), sometimes tends to get "pushed over_ when you plug the connector in. When this happens...everything APPEARS to work...fils light and all...BUT the EMISSIONS AND CUTOFF ....will NOT begin to read right on ANY tube you test. Not sure which tube electrode that pin leads to--perhaps a grid....but it WILL cause this. it is VERY easy to overlook this problem. So--pull the plug off and make SURE EVERY pin is in the right place to seat with the connector form the 70. Make SURE one of the pins is not slightly "pushed to the side" to where it misses it's connector.

Im guessing you mean the grey data cable or the pins on the UA itself? Because there is one pin on the grey cable that looks a bit suspicious. Might I add the needle tends to swing after I messed with the emission calibration dial inside the cr70. After I did that the meter would go into the green but would swing erratically and sometimes read so far into the green it would swing all the way to the max on the good side of the meter. Cutoff still is not too good... I'll try messing with that one suspicious pin. Thanks for your help! I will tell you how it goes.
