ID this set in PA
Here is an early 50's round color set, can anyone ID it ?

It is a CTC5. One of the Early color sites that went under then got re-hosted by the early TV museeum has a page identifying the cabinet models by picture.
It should have a 21AXP22 in it...those are prone to being gassy. If it is gassy it will have great emission, but weird cutoff behavior and if powered by the set the HV will arc inside the neck directly to the electron gun with the conductive gas giving it a path to so.

This set is located right in my back yard for once. Spoke with the owner who is currently on vacation, and made arrangements to pick it up once he returns. Cabinet is rough, but will see how it turns out.

CTC-5 "Whitby" model, with DeLuxe (higher performance) chassis. If the 21AXP22 crt is dead, it's possible to adapt hardware to put in a later all-glass tube.
If the 21AXP22 happens to be good (not likely), it is way underpriced at $50. |
