Adding Composite Input
I'm pretty sure I can add a composite input to my Avante, but I have a couple of questions.
What does it entail? Does it take modifications that render other input sources disabled? Can I setup a composite input and still use the tuners? If not, can it be installed in such a way as to be able to switch between them? And finally, what about RGB inputs? Same questions as the composite. Really, what I'm looking for is a way to connect all my external sources via composite to do away with the RF modulator and switchbox. I'd like to use a video switcher and no converstions. Thanks

It's generally possible to do a mod to add composite input to a color set (and in some cases S-video), and generally not feasible to add RGB input. The basic idea is to switch the composite in, in place of the video detector output, but you may need to tweak the design to match the detector peak-to-peak and DC bias values.
Not recommended for a hot-chassis set, even with an isolation transformer. I think you may find some threads here on AK about doing this. |
