RCA Set with an Issue

I have a 1985 RCA Model GLR689PR Set. I think for it's age and etc. it still has a nice picture. It does have one issue. If I knew how to post pictures on here I would post a picture of a screen shot. I will instead for now describe. I notice when watching TV there is a small area in the top right top corner of the screen where the picture looks off. Like it will show purple color on certain shots, or can be darkened in that area with other screen shots. Is this a sign of the CRT aging and so call burning out in that area of the CRT?

Thanks for anyone that has any information on this condition.

Most likely a magnet fell off the CRT bell. On RCA usually they
are V shaped. Glue it back on if thats the case. Check that first.
Other things can do it also.

Thanks Zeno for the insight on the possible issue. I think the set must be out of adjustment in some way as when the screen shows anything white the white color really stands out and seems much brighter in nature than the other colors. The Blue is somewhat that way but not as much as the white. I would be interested in what anyone has on that. Thanks.

Make sure SCREEN (G2) isn't set too high. Also check contrast...

Problem #2 sounds like CRT but again could be other things.
In general
Problem happens over time
gets better with warm up
gets better with reduced brite & contrast

Try watching in dark room with brite & contrast down. If it looks better
90% its the CRT.

RCA Set Yet another Issue

The RCA Set seems to have another issue going on. I have been noticing that on bright screen shots the TV has a very noticeable buzzing noise through the audio speaker. The video on the TV is coming through an RF Modulator as my TV Receiver only has the RCA hookup and no RF Coaxial output thus the reason having to use the RF Modulator to hookup to the TV since the set is old enough that it has not RCA hookups on it.

Thanks.

If this modulator not make buzzin with another set's, probably this set have alignment issues.

Thanks All. I think I found the source of my problem. I changed out my RCA Cables for a better heavier set. Also, on back of the TV I was using the 300ohm transformer for adapting the 75 ohm coaxial. I plugged the coaxial cable directly to the 75ohm connector on the box of the TV. The picture is like 100% better and no annoying buzz from the audio. All good now except for the small discoloration patch in the Top right corner of the screen. It seems to me it is getting less and less noticeable as I use the set more and more. It had been in storage for sometime.

The shadow mask probably got magnetized...Most sets degauss every time they're turned on from cold so it will improve over time....An external service degaussing coil will accelerate the process.
