I moved my connection over to the yoke and it works much better. There's still a little hum in the audio and the picture twists a little at the top.
Yes, the video does feed into the cathode. I agree some of the blanking pulse is feeding into the sync and audio circuit. I'll do a little more experimenting. P.S. I did get a little jolt from the VOT
