Lasonic Converter Box

Does anyone know why when I try to use a Lasonic Digital To Analog Converter Box on my RCA Color Trax Console TV it makes the picture have wavy and somewhat fuzzy lines on it? I switched to a Radio Shack (Digital Stream) Digital To Analog Converter Box and have a perfect clear picture with no lines on it. In fact, to me, it is clear as Satellite TV.

Also, have tried using an old style flat antenna wire instead of the newer coxial cable to hook the TV up to the converter box and the old flat wire causes the picture to have snow and etc.like the old analog signals use to look like. What is the reasoning behind this?
