Took my daughter to her ACT test this morning so while I was out, I stopped by a community yard sale. Passed on quite a few so-so electronocs pieces but out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a gentleman who had a beautiful Grundig Majestic 1088 in Rosemah finish. It is in EXCELLENT condition and plays beautifully! Looks like it was cared for by someone who really appreciated it and doubt you will find too many much nicer. Grille cloth is stain free, back panel looks untouched and finish is excellent. The best part is all functions are operational and switches quiet.
If any of you have the years these were manufactured I would appreciate it. The seller (an older gentleman) tried to convince me his mother purchased this radio during WWII but there is no way. I doubt the Germans were exporting these radios wit USA version during or immediately after the war. I assume it to be mid to late 50's but just wanted to ask those who may be in the know. If anyone has a copy of the owners manual, please let me know and will be happy to compensate you for your time and efforts. Scanned copies are even better. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Barry
