That's what I originally thought as well, but I've tried everything from off air, to VCR, to video games and its about all the same story. Since there's a bad case of the bends as well the sync pulses are going away, and the sound remains flawless with no hum or buzz. Whether its due to an actual overloading condition caused by excessive gain or just a sync prob I'm not sure of yet. If I put a 10db attenuator on the vid input of the RF modulator its just fine. I'll live with that for now.

Eventually I'll tear it down and try to make improvements on the sync and possibly look for ways to add a vert blanking circuit. The retrace lines are annoying between scenes.
