I discovered an Antique radio guy in Mt. Dora, Fl.
We took a little day-trip this morning from Lutz, Fl. to Mt. Dora to check out the Antique Extravaganza. I don't know how many acres it involves, but there is no way you could see it all in one day. The scale of this event is staggering.
Acre upon acre of temporary set-ups under canopies. Some cool stuff but nothing I was seriously interested in. After a few hours of looking at butter churns, fancy glasses, and furniture, I was about bored into a coma. Then we went to a more interesting area with old-time permanent shops that are open every day, year round. Among these shops was Vintage Electronic Restoration Services run by a gentleman named Ted Miguel. When I stepped into his store the whole day became worthwhile. Here was a shop I could spend some time in. Ted specializes in TV and Radio, Vacuum Tube Hi-Fi, and Guitar amps from the 20's thru the 70's. I took a few photos to share with my AK friends. I have no affiliation with Ted or his shop and am passing on this information to benefit anyone living in the dead heart of Florida who might like to check out his services. I'll be returning within a few weeks to buy an old radio. By the way, Ted is the son of a Rear Admiral and has a long lineage of U.S. Navy relatives. I plan to talk with him more next time as my wife was anxious to move on. Lots more butter churns to look at! Rick
