My new Philco "Hippo" Mdl. 46-420 good buy

Well the wife and I went antiquing today. I walked right by this beauty. She asked me if I saw the Philco. Nope. When I saw it I couldn't believe that it still had the original shine the back is mint and the tag on the bottom is fantastic. It was only $18.88 out the door. The tag said it wasn't working. I got it home and the first tube I pulled was completely dead, every one of the others was good. I thought what a pain I have to drag the big box of tubes down from the top of the cabinets I had a few scattered tubes on the counter and only one was loctal like the bad one I had pulled. It must just be my day it was the one I needed and it tested like new. Hooked the radio to the variac and brought it up to about 55- 60 volts did a little tuning and it was already bring in a station, no hum. Time to go for 90 volts and it's playing strong. This is a radio that looks almost new and plays like it. I married the right woman she is now an official radio hunter.
