It appears I've never asked about this ol' radio

In this forum (at least, I can find no evidence that I have).
Found this at the dump last year (IIRC). It is a "Howard". There is a little information on-line about Howard (no great shakes, apparently) but I didn't see anything like this one. I know it's transformerless, with (even worse) a "resistor wire" power cord!

Any thoughts/insight to share?





Then again, there's always the question of what would've/could've/should've been behind the glass? :-)
