I just got this radio from Bryan Gadow and it turned out to be an easy fix, only needing the dual-section electrolytic filter cap replaced. The original cap was a 100uf/150V and 70uf/50V. I used two single section 100uf/200V and 100uf/63V caps to replace the original and the radio now works fine.
The radio was built by Arvin for Sears. The only thing I need to do is find a shaft and knob to replace the missing one that sets the clock.
It's been my experience that those cardboard tube filter capacitors were usually bad. From what I've heard from old technicians, these caps were doing good to last five years.
