I don't mean to beat a dead horse but you have tried sliding the trap back and forth, side to side with the brightness turned up?

It can be tricky to find the sweet spot sometimes.
Also a Focus coil can sometimes throw the beam off far enough to prevent it from hitting the screen, try turning that to the other end of the range and readjust the trap.

Lastly, the Focus Coil is used as a choke in that set (I'm pretty sure) it won't operate if the coil is open. It should be from a few hundred Ohm to about 1500 I think.
