westclox rotor capsule repair for clock radios

Has anyone had luck with repairing the rotor capsule in Westclox built clock movements that were commonly found in '60's clock radios?

I have a '64 Philco clock radio that's really not worth a flip; but, I thought I'd play around with it. The chassis only needed caps; but, the clock does not run and the gear on the outside of the rotor capsule was frozen. First, I tried to take the capsule apart; but, didn't have any luck. Then, I drilled a small hole in the housing, flushed it out with contact cleaner, and relubricated with 3 in 1 electric motor oil. The gear will now turn; but, the clock still does not run. I tested the motor coil and the rest of the mechanism is free; so, I think the problem is with the capsule.

I found a rebuilt capsule on ebay for $25; but, the radio really isn't worth $5. It's no big deal if I messed this one up beyond repair; but, I'd like to know the correct way of fixing these, in case I find one that is worth something.
