Unidentified RCA Radiola console & Crosley radio/phono
I picked up this RCA Radiola console at the flea market this morning. I can't find any model number and all I know about is that it's an AC powered TRF radio that uses type 24A, type 27, type 80, and type 45 tubes. Unfortunately, the cabinet is a little rough; but, I've seen worse. They wanted $185; but, I was able to get them down to $85. That was still a little more than I wanted to spend; but, that's sometimes the way it works out.
20+ years ago, my sister bought an empty RCA Radiola cabinet at a yard sale for $3. It's been a while since I've seen it; but, I think it's identical to this one and she's been wanting me to find the correct chassis for her empty cabinet and the model I just bought is the only one I've seen. My model looks to have more knobs; but, like I said, I haven't looked at hers in a long time. Does anyone recognize this set who can give me the model number and the year it was made? ![]() ![]() Then, I bought this '40's Crosley radio/78 rpm record player because I felt sorry for it. This thing had been sitting at the flea market for months and the owner originally wanted $45; but, begged me to give him $25 for it. Since I have an identical model buried in the shop, I declined. BTW, the finish was original when I first saw it. When I was in there the other day, I saw where he'd "refinished" the cabinet. I guess he thought it would get the attention of the young crowd and they'd buy it; but, I really wish people would leave things alone. I'm not experienced with cabinet refinishing; so, I may use this one to practice on.
