Would this be good for a beginner?

I'm going up to Missouri for a few weeks soon and wanted to get a tv to work on with my grandpa and give to him. What do you guys think about this set? It's 40.00 and looks to be complete except for the one wrong knob on the front. And if anyone can read what the brand is on it could you please say i cant make it out at all i want to say it says admiral but im not shure
