With sets that old capacitor replacement is basically essential to getting them to work.

Though I would still find somebody to check the CRT before paying to recap the set.

CRTs can cost more than a set with a good CRT, so unless you know it is bad and have tried and failed to rejuvenate the bad CRT looking for a replacement is normally a waste of time and money.
