I suppose the boring factor will set in without records. I have bought a lot of Blue Amberols over the years (I have about 800) and so the machine has interest. I use a Diamond B Reproducer with a cygnet horn and the sound quality beats a Victrola of the same period.
Because the cylinder was dying out by 1914, Edison began dubbing cylinders from the diamond discs and the audio quality suffered. Nevertheless, the cylinders made from 1908 thru 1914 sound very good for the period. |
