66 motorola contrast issue

i have a 1966 motorola 23 inch and if i turn the contrast to make the picture sharp the screen pulls in on one side. this set was recapped and works great its just the contrast if i want to make it sharper and as i turn it in that direction the screen pulls in. any ideas ......
