Some more thoughts on the HDM68. The 4:3 picture squishing was only acceptable because I had the width cranked all the way up on my TV. I experimented with also cranking the height all the way down to get letter boxing for 16:9 programmes. Isn’t analog wonderful?

I also tried regular cable TV as a source (FIOS). Although it has a setting for 4:3, it refused to use it!

So I think I the search continues, but this is definitely a wonderful converter and works great with my DVD player.
