British use of high band.

As all the main high power BBC transmitters were in low band where vertical polarisation was used the post office stipulated that when ITV fired up on high band in low band VP areas they'd also used VP where possible so people could use combined antenna's. It was the same in horizontal polarised areas. Of course there were exceptions to that rule, one I remember was Skegness on the north sea Lincolnshire coast where most people got their high band ITV signal from Emely Moor VP channel 10 in Yorkshire & their low band signal from a local low power channel 1 HP transmitter. In 1966 a transmitter in Lincolnshire called belmont fired up on high band with ITV ch 7 & BBC ch 13, both with vertical polarisation..
