Motorola Triplettes SCORE!!!!!
The one pictured in red was one I got from the original owner, with photofact and antenna. It was working but needed some help. Cosmetic condition was near perfect. The knobs are not visable because the chassis is out for a re-cap, and the cosmetic work is almost done on the chassis. I paid 275, which i thought wasn't a bad deal for a late 40s set with a working 7JP4 considering what they've ben going for on the bay....
Not a week later, i was at the antique radio and supply store in Kearney mesa getting some parts when I noticed two sets similar to mine. The store owner said someone had dropped them off in the morning because he thought there was a better place to rid himself of them rather than the dump. I asked the price, and he told me I could have both FOR ONLY 30 BUCKS!!! I quickly snatched them up, and now I have tripplettes. THe tan one needs knobs, as well as some pins threaded back on the CRT. The straps that hold the antenna are rotted. Other than that the set is complete. The wooden one is a dark mahogany. Its missing the fine-tuning knob. THe previous owner took the "ballast tube" out, put in a transformer and wired the tubes in parallel. Not a bad score for 30 bucks. Even if one is completely dead, I can always use it for parts. Anyone got any suggestions on how to properly re-thread the pins back on my CRT?
