Nice mid 50's GE Console sitting out in the rain!!

About 3 weeks ago I was going down the highway and glanced at the Antique/Junk shop that is NEVER open and thought I saw an old tv out in the parking lot. I tuned around... There was a very clean and complete set sitting there under the awning where gas pumps used to be in the days of service stations. That is the good part. The set is under SOME protection but folks it aint drizzling out here in ol' Virginnie. I had an old trash bag that I volunteered to try to put under a very old cast iron cash register. This was really a waste of time but I really felt bad about the set sitting there completely neglected.

Folks I'll be honest I very seriously thought of loading the thing on my truck and giving it a DRY home at least, but the thought of how ridiculous it would be to be arrested for stealing some "antique" dealers 50 year old TV. I REALLY think it would never have been noticed. The thing could not possibly be important to anyone. At least thats what any normal person would think. You would think this set is out for garbage pickup in most places. Folks Rednecks are weird!! I might see the business end of a shotgun as I load up this suddenly "collectable" television. Ya see around here TVs, refrigerators, and ugly rusting cars are front porch decorations and landscaping implements.

Also, I had to be realistic and take note that the thing was at least under SOME kind of protection and with the 2 ton cash register on top I got the feeling that the non existant owners might have some twisted wish for the set NOT to be taken. What I did is slid a note under the door telling of interest to take it off their hands. Again a few weeks back. I havent heard a thing from the owner. Now we are having a Summer Monsoon and I'm sure the set has been soaked several times. When I saw it the damage was very minimal with a perfect back cover and Warranty tag. Not the prettiest set in the world for sure but such a waste. It may have been a plug (slowly) and play!!
Could still be but with a junk cabinet.....Oh well I don't have the room for another console. I need to give somebody a late 50's Airline 21" to make some room. I have my eye on a roundie. I NEED the room!

Tube out......
