Technical question: given its vintage, would this set be NTSC-compatible if restored to original specs? Or would some sort of conversion be required to get an image on this (presumably 441-line) set?

It is a 441 line, AM sound set, but they work just fine on NTSC with little or no tweaking. The manufacturers offered to set these televisions up for NTSC in 1941 for free to the owners.
