is the radio on when you try to change stations? some radios have a clutch that switches the tuning knob from AM to FM pointers, if your select Fm, the AM and shortwave pointer will not move and vice versa for AM. some radios had this some didn't. Telefunken used 2 knobs for tuning, the outer ring for Fm and the center knob for AM/shortwave. but if it hard the move the pointer manually, it might just need a little oil on the tuning cap bearings

Im not sure of the clutch deal,and yes it is on when i try to adjust.But the tuner is very stiff hard to move manualy by hand . To oil theses brgs should this be disassembled or can you simply put a few drops into it. You can see it pretty good and get to it fairly easy. It looks like a metal box approx 1 1/2 x 3 " long and the top is opened to expose the internals. On the front side of this box is the wheel that im adjusting manualy. thanks for the help Chris

The problem with one I repaired was the shaft need some lube where it went through the bushing on the tuner.

As far as the noisy push buttons go, yes you can use contact cleaner or tuner cleaner. Spray the contacts on each switch and work the buttons in order to let the cleaner cover the contacts. Very common problem.

Good luck on the mechanical problem. Some of the German radios have very intricate mechanisms. Hope you get yours squared away.
