I have the schematic diagram of a 12 tubes Irradio set from the 50s who has a PL81 pentode as an auto-oscillator horizontal final stage.

The GE is a C-2 chassis. Definitly a unique design. I was the first to pull the back off. Looks like rats nest inside the way it was built. Doesnt look like it will be too fun to work on with circuit boards stacked upside down and tward each other. Wiring all over the place etc. It makes sense why techs didnt want to work on them. There was a special consideration though, there is a slide out plate on the bottom of the set to gain access to the underside of the main pc boards. This set needs work in the IF section, but I think I might get lucky on this one. Typical GE, uses the strangest tube types. The 8CB11 (3rd IF) was weak as can be. Both sarkies tarzan tuner tubes were shot. Shorted 8AL9 video output tube, so that explains why I cant control the brightness of the blank raster.
What surprized me the most is that this set actually uses an octal base horizontal output tube. It uses a 26HU5 which has a full bakelite base. looks like a 6DQ5 that is used in early color sets. I have about a million NOS tubes, but dont have those odd ball types you see in the GE's.
