Philco Safari

This is the first 'eBay' set I've gotten that worked right out of the box! #;^)

[QUOTE=bandersen;2898213]Great score!
Did you get that set recently?

About a month ago. I will try to find a gel-cell battery that will fit into the case
so it can be used as a portable as it is supposed to be.
A very 'heavy' portable. #;^)

Hey Cliff, contact batterymaker here on AK, he makes awesome repros for lots of stuff. He might just be able to help you. Sweet little set BTW, I've always wanted one but the price goes too high every time.

This *begins* to make up for the 2 bakelite Admiral 7 inch sets that were smashed to pieces, the Philco 12 inch set with the neck broken off the CRT,
and the very rare Altec Lansing 12 inch set that arrived with the CRT broken and IF transformers damaged because the power transformer was loose and swinging around on it's wires! Still quite amazed over that one!
