banderson, what happened to that vertical output transformer/choke looking thing in the upper right hand corner of the photo of your Philco? It looks so burned, or is that rust?

Oops - I forgot to congratulate you on scoring an awesome set That's a really distinctive cabinet. I bet most folks would never think there's a TV hiding inside.

Just rust I think. This is the dirtiest set I've ever come across. Everything was covered in a a layer of dirt and pine needles, then fine black soot, then rust. Amazingly, I thing it's sound electrically. I'll fine out soon enough when I start restoring it in earnest.
