I'm kinda thinking this is at least partially a gold digging scam. What kids is she helping? How much percentage wise goes to the kids? She obviously did NO research. Not even bringing up the sets value, how can she ship it for $100 to anywhere in the lower 48? It can be done but it takes research or a trucking company in your back pocket or back yard. Just seems like she pulled all the prices out of her . I wouldn't mind spending a few $ more to help a charity but 10 times what something is worth? Keep in mind she has a reserve on top of that bargain of a starting price! It may be against ebay rules to not show a charities name if you claim an auction is to help out a charity. Anybody know?
One thing is for certain. The general public really has no idea what old TV's are worth. If we can somehow educate people into thinking, like they are starting to with radios that unrestored old TV's are worth very little and recapped working restored sets are priceless this hobby will go places. Even if its not reality now a push from all of us who care(want prices to go up) and it may become a reality. But then again if it hasn't happened yet? Its the Antique philosophy in people. When looking up TV's on ebay I see Antique Armoires, Consoles and TV stands for sale for hundreds and even thousands of dollars. Why shouldn't the TV's of the same vintage that were housed in such furniture go for the same $$. JMHO Yes this set is overpriced.
