Picture Tube rebuilding on eBay
So what exactly is this guy doing, sending them to Hawkeye and charging a markup?
Hasn't he already shut down and if so how is he going to get this done? http://cgi.ebay.com/PREDICTA-TV-21-P...efaultDomain_0 |

I see on another thread somewhere that Hawkeye had a big rush of last second orders and decided to stay open until September.

Well, a look at the FB from this seller, including detailed seller ratings, reveals an impressive track record. Writing or speaking english effectively are not necessarily the only indicators to create confidence or trust in a relationship. Not sure what's up with offering to rebuilt CRTs - I might be tempted to send in a tube, except the price is a bit too steep for me. In my experience over the past 10 years of doing business with this seller I've always received exactly what's described. Service is also prompt and courteous. This is NOT an endorsement - just my opinion. Again, I can't speak for this listing. But I see this is definitely something different.

I got a reply from the ebay seller, apolloboy2003. He said he specializes in restoring the chassis. He just sends the CRT onto Scotty at Hawk Eye for the CRT rebuild. I suppose it's possible you could get a deal from him having the chassis restored while he sends out CRT to HawkEye. It's a way to drum up business and may even appeal to someone who just wants a single turn-key solution.

I believe the seller intentionally munged up the wording on his "no Paypal" notice so the ebay bots would not bounce his listing for not taking Paypal.
