12UP4A CRT on ebay
I wonder if Rauland made CRTs for Zenith or someone just reused the box ?

I think Rauland was made by Zenith but i'd expect a tube in a Zenith box to be branded Zenith.
That ratty looking thing is probably a dud stuck in the box for return, it's obviously not new. |

Bill Cahill Rauland was a cheap rebuilder.....

I agree it is a used tube.

Rauland was a Zenith Subsidiary. I think the rebuilt replacements were made by them also.

The box is for a 12UP4A, the CRT itself is a 12UP4, so obviously not what was originally in the box.
My 1949 Zenith radio/phono/TV combo has a Rauland 12UP4, and its type style seems newer than what is on this one. Mine is in bold all-capital letters, this one is in script. This makes me think now that my set already has had its CRT replaced, though mine does not test very strong.
