I've never worked with an 83 rectifier, but I understand that it's best to run them with just filament voltage for a minimum of 15 minutes before applying the HV if they've been shaken around by handling and installation.

We used to have a Thomas Organ. To generate the tones they used 12AU7 oscillators. One for every three keys. They assumed you wouldn't be likely to play notes adjacent to each other.

The initial power draw must have been enormous.
