Would'nt hurt to use it for practice / experience! I would keep the safety glass in case you break one on a good crt.

yep, keep it, esp if the lens is not scratched, then remove and save as often they are scratched.

I hope to see a colour roundie in the flesh one day, highly doubt I'll ever see one here in NZ though...
