ive too many amps, help!
So ive built this little 6418 sub mini tube radio from a combination of super het designs. I bought a wall transformer that converts 120 ac to 1.25 dc and 600 milliamps, the trouble is my design calls for 10 milliamps or .01amps.
Do i worry? Can i put a resistor in between? It doesnt specify a milliamps for the other. I suppose it is 18-28vdc and just that. Oh and would anyone yell at me if i used some green led power meters? I just bought two 0-99vdc ones and i wanna use them. after all is this a 20s design thats using a late 50s tube. it not traditional.

A circuit will only draw what it draws. Your circuit draws 10 ma., and the wall wart can supply UP TO 600 ma. It's like plugging in a 100 watt lamp on a circuit with 15 amp breaker. The circuit can supply up to 15 amps, but the lamp only draws about .85 amps. Your wall wart will just idle along and be OK.

One thing to be careful about... make sure that the supply does not exceed its rated 1.25 V output when operated at much less than its full current rating. Some of these little supplies are poorly regulated, and voltage output may be higher than stated value under light load conditions. Be sure to check it with a voltmeter (no load) before risking the fragile heater of your 6418.
