Those Hor out "transistors" and the 2SC867 LV regulator HAD to be replaced with Sony OEM parts.
I could never use an SK, NTE, ECG, HEP or other replacement tho they were listed as subs

RadioTVNut nails it on the CRTs, once they go weak there is no coming back

I made that mistake! the set ran about three hours.
I used to get my Sony parts from Joseph Electronics in Niles, Il.

Reminds me of my KV-1205 from 1978. Which is a low hours set with a very healthy CRT but needed chassis work due to intermittent start-up. Luckily, all it involved was replacing some leaky lytics. It's true; the crt's don't rejuv well & the semiconductors can be confusing and unobtainable.

Thanks for the new resource - I got my last few SG613's from Talon, but if they are out, I have a new resource. Any idea if they still have SG613's or 2SC867s/2SC1034s?


BTW, I've got the Sony bulletin on how to check the SG613, and one about the correct replacement criteria for some other semiconductors. I've got it and the Sony Semiconductor Replacement Handbook (Sony subbed alot of trannies).
