The 48-700 is a completely different chassis that the later 702 models with the crummy HV transformers. I believe it uses a high voltage transformer that runs directly off the AC power like the pre war sets do as David referred to, a deadly situation because of the high current involved.

Was the CRT damaged in shipping? I believe it's supposed to have a 7GP4 instead of the 7JP4 but I hear they can be used as a sub.
