7jp4 crts

hi all, i may have a line on a few 7jp4 crts but not knowing if they are in some demand, i dont know if its worth getting them. these are NOS without the boxes because they fell apart long ago. would they be worth trying to get at this point ?

Yes, absolutely! They are always in demand since just about every 7" set uses them

Thanks . She'll be at the convention next weekend for everyone to meet. Her hand is quite a bit bigger now four months on.

wow i didnt know they were that popular so let me see exactly how many there is and ill post if its good. this guy tells me he has several and they were all in the original boxes but the boxes rotted away long ago. he told me he had well over 100 crts for old sets all round tube and i was sick after he told me that after so many years holding onto them he decided to break all the crts to get rid of them except the 7jp4 crts, which means he had 21fb-21fj-and probably 21ax crts, im still sickened. he had got a dumpster to get rid of the crts that he didnt want anymore so i asked why he did that and he tells me , well no one wanted them and there was no market for them. he originally got them from a warehouse distributor that long closed and they needed them cleared out so he cleared them out and got all of them for FREE, YES FREE.

Would this be a bolt-in swap for the 7dp4 in your 621TS should it need a CRT?

I would never break up older NOS CRTs, regardless of size, shape or whether they were B&W or color.

No, I don't think so. I have one of the 1911A11 bakelite Admiral sets, its CRT is OK, but a little on the weak side..

The 621 was perhaps the only 7" set that used a magnetically deflected CRT (7dp4).

Nearly all other 7" sets of the era used the electrostatically deflected 7jp4 or 7bp4, and adapting a electrostatic set to use an electromagnetically deflected CRT or vice versa is no trivial matter(it would require a total redesign and rebuild of the deflection and HV circuits of the set in question as well as the sourcing of scarce specialized parts).

Ultimately, I may just have to be satisfied as one of the lucky few who HAS a 621.. Seems like somewhere I read that there are MAYBE 150 examples remaining.. I spout off about my good fortune to the local yokels here who AREN'T "TV people", & they just smile & say, "That's Nice..."
