I had some soldering done on this set about a year ago. I assume that yes the problem is in the tuner. When the set warms up I get vertical lines in the background when I use a certain make of converter box. It doesn't do this with all converter boxes, rather just one brand in particular. I tried using RF#4 and the vertical line interference is way worse. I have also noticed a little hiss noise in my picture. I guess I can't expect miracles as this set is 28 years old. These vertical lines with the use of the converter box can give you a grayish or grainy looking picture.
