In 1979 Magnavox switched to an inline tube. 1978 was the last of the star systems with a delta gun CRT. I still have my 1978 Star System set. CRT is weak though. In all fairness it played for years from 5am till abouit midnight every day. Really high hours.

Yeah...they went to the T-809 and 815. Only real difference in them was the 815 had a cold VRT power supply, the 809 was hot . Both have mostloy the same module layout. Both I think had the flyback powering the tube fils and vertical supply. Both could be found in console cabinets.
The inline tube in the consoles was NOT as durable or long-lived--as a delta tube is, BTW. At least that has been my experience. |
