A BIT high--do you think??

This is an ebay listing for a predicta tower set.

While it IS valuable---I feel the asking price is a BIT too steep::

Just a tad, wonder what the reserve is? Given the recent history of Predicta sales maybe $1000-$1500 restored?
It is a clean unit but for $5300 maybe they should have completely rebuilt the board, all resistors, new integrated circuits, etc, and maybe have everything plated with Gold.

I probably have a bit over $450 into mine, that includes buying it, rebuilding it and a replacement CRT.

The touchy Vertical is not the nature of a tube unit, if done right they are rock solid.

At least they didn't fishtank it.

It's a totally ridiculous BIN. I believe the most sought after Predicta, the "Continental", is up in the $1500 area. I would value this pedestal model less, especially in the mahogany cabinet verses the blonde. I am confused with the change in circuitry to the set to play DVD's (??) All my vintage TV play them perfectly without any modifications.

For us? Waaay too high.

For the General Public? An effective ad, aimed towards them, can bring prices that surprise many in this room.

A change is generally needed to play TAPES without top flagging; no change needed for DVDs.

"Sittin' on the "Group W" bench!" Right on! Off topic, but I just noticed N2IXK's location. I wonder how many people get that? Thanksgiving at Carnegie Hall is just around the bend, that is if Officer Obie doesn't arrest us for littering......

Just this week I passed on a nice clean Predicta at $950 in a second hand shop. It was tempting but..eh I'd rather spend money on my audio hobby. It was the model with the tube sitting atop the flat cabinet..a table model.

Here's a nice one for $750, missing the rear foot but otherwise nice.

It's obviously been recapped.
