The design of those rooms is interesting to someone that did not live in that decade. The author has quite way with words...It has been the most hilarious read about any hotel that I've ever had.

EDIT: Holey crap that place is probably 20 minutes west of me!....I think I may have even seen the buildings (from outside) back when they stood, on annual trips to the family cabin during my youth!

Being in Wisconsin all my life, I heard of Hartwig's Gobbler, I never knew it to be a "Kinky Joint".
I think it was named "The Gobbler" because the Hartwigs ran a turkey farm and processing plant.
Were the rooms rented by the hour?

Elvis had his TV's in the basement. 3 next to each other so he could watch 3 games at the same time. I went on the tour when I was a little guy. For some reason I remember that.
