mystery TV, can anyone identify? is it worth purchasing?

there's a table top set for sale at a local antique shop that seems to have lost all of its labeling both on the cabinet and the chassis. the chassis (forgot to take photo, will next time out) appears to be in somewhat of a rough shape, and apparently was painted red at some point. It also has seen some time in the shop as the cheater cord was replaced with a hard-wired cord running in through an unused slot.

asking price is $90, condition of the picture tube is unknown. is it worth rescuing?

Looks like someone took a general 810 chassis or similar and put it in their own cabinet. Not the worst job though

About a decade ago one of the big anti-q shoppes in downtown lakeland fl. had a cabinet without a chassis...If they still have it you could put yours back to factory enclosure specs....

Definitely a 1948 GE 810 10" TV installed in a homemade cabinet. It's only worth the value of the chassis if it's complete with a good CRT. The 10" CRT alone, if it checks good, is worth the asking price. The cabinet, however well done, is worthless.

interesting. That would explain the absence of a speaker slot anywhere on the cabinet...also that the knob shafts stick out really far...but I still feel like I've seen a TV with that cabinet before...maybe I dreamed it

I have not been South of Illinois in years, and have no plans to be any time soon.
