Still looking for some information about hooking up a frequency meter to measure the Horizontal Frequency of 15750 cps. Has anybody done this?
Thanks. |

I've got the test pattern looking pretty good. There is a "ghost like" squiggle on the right side. I haven't played a DVD yet but I will.

That squiggle looks like a bit of H. retrace. See if it'll go away by reducing the brightness a bit.
Linearity that good (both H and V) is seldom seen on a vintage set. The quality of your resto would do a seasoned techie proud. |

Wow, thanks old coot88!
And here is a short clip from Veggie Tales. I'm pretty happy with the results. https://youtu.be/ht_zN7l4fSo Last edited by Crist Rigott; 07-25-2016 at 08:57 PM. |

I was just reviewing the entire thread and came across the discussion about the number of IF stages this TV has (2). Looking at the picture after replacing the caps and resistors, and some tubes, looks like Phil was right about it not mattering so much now-a-days.
Good call Phil. |

When you are connecting a DVD player, VCR, or other non-over the air source, it's as if you lived two blocks from the TV station in the old days. No need to amplify a signal that's already strong and free of interference.

Wow, that looks great, now you just got to get the color working...
Seriously though, you did a nice meticulous job restoring that chassis. |

Time to do the knobs. These came with a lot of white gunk on them. What can I use to clean them? I remember Bob Anderson talking about this in 1 of his videos but can't remember which one.
Also I have to polish the bright brass centers. After that I'm thinking of spray painting some clear over the knobs to preserve them. |

I cleaned and polished the brass brights on the knobs. To polish the brights, I used some Mothers and then Gorhams silver polish. I cut a Q-Tip in half and chucked it up in my drill press. Then I added some compound then polished the brights. I went through several Q-Tips for each knob. When done. I did a little hand polishing with a soft rag and Gorhams to even out the shine.
