Use a needle file to file it off. Trying to clip it off with wirecutters will likely break the tube's base, letting the vacuum out.

Don't need to worry about cutting a pin. I have some 1L6 tubes.

The previous owner had put a 1R5 in place. Oddly, it can oscillate at a higher frequency than my T/Os with a 1R5 and is more sensitive.

Dude. Hook 9V to the wrong spot in the string, and you can definitely blow a filament or two. Or three. (That's assuming your 9V is a 'hard' source like a battery, wall wart etc.)

I meant to connect to where the battery hooks up... not in the middle of the string O_o
