Electronizer, take care of those speakers. They're difficult to fix, since there appear to be no replacement foam surrounds available, last time I checked.

Chip Chester, your comment spurred me to inspect the speakers more carefully. Although the woofers on both speakers look fine, the surrounds are torn for both tweeters. I hope it’s not the kind of foam they used everywhere in the 80s that has now disintegrated and crumbles away at the slightest touch. Anyone had any luck repairing these things? Guess I’ll take them off and drive a different pair of speakers. Too bad, they have that top-end Sony “cool” factor.

Zeno I can only imagine the shock and surprise that first tech must have experienced when the case shattered. Followed I’m sure by, “what do we tell the customer?” The case on my 20” model has metal reinforcement where the speakers attach.
