OK, so a question about this, I'm not sure if I was operating this thing correctly or not, but I was trying to use the AM/FM Tuner portion of this unit to test some Acoustic Research AR-4x speakers that I was electrically restoring, and I couldn't get it to switch out of VCR Mode and into radio mode.

like I said I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if maybe the receiver part is dead, but if the receiver part is dead, then how is it that the VCR part still works? Because if what you said is true then the whole unit should be dead if the receiver is dead.

The controls on my STR-DE515 (which is the premium version of the 315) has cap issues that cause the panel buttons to either stop working or work erratically.

A little update on this unit, I was able to find a remote for it (apparently my friend was able to find the remote for the unit), and I was looking around at a local Goodwill store yesterday afternoon and I found a set of Sony 5.1 Surround Sound speakers that would of been like the kind that one would of bought to go with this unit when it was new back in 1997, so now its complete like it should be now.

Also I figured out the front panel buttons and how to get it into the various different modes, apparently there was a button that I was supposed to hit to get it to change modes that I didn't think had anything to do with switching the unit between modes because of how the button was labeled, so once I hit that button then the VCR/Receiver went into the various tuner and other modes that the receiver portion did.
